Position Summary:

We are seeking applicants for a long-term substitute to teach drama classes at Cardinal Gibbons beginning mid September 2025 and running through the end of December 2025.

The ideal candidate will have experience teaching drama and engaging students in theatrical arts in a high school setting. This position requires creativity, organization, and a commitment to fostering a supportive and inspiring environment for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging drama lessons aligned with the school and drama’s curriculum and standards
  • Maintain and support the culture of the drama program..
  • Guide students in the study of acting, stagecraft, voice projection, and performance techniques.
  • Foster an inclusive and positive classroom environment that encourages creativity and self-expression.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress through performances, projects, and written work.
  • Maintain open communication with students, parents, and staff regarding class activities and progress.
  • Manage classroom behavior and ensure a safe learning space for all students.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff on interdisciplinary projects or school events as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant background and experience working with students in a theatrical setting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Theatre or a related field
  • North Carolina teaching certification or licensure, preferred not mandatory
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in project-based learning.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with new technologies and a willingness to integrate technology into classroom lessons.
  • Able to work collaboratively with the other members of the department and the whole school in academics, extracurricular activities, and furthering the mission of the school.

This position reports directly to the Assistant Head of School for Academics.
