Substitute Instructional Teaching Assistant

Hours per week: 37.5

Position Summary:

Cathedral School in Raleigh, NC is seeking a temporary 12-week substitute Instructional Teaching Assistant for Grade 4. The substitute Instructional Teaching Assistant will support the lead teacher and share in the responsibilities for the safety and physical well-being of the children, as well as engage the children in play and activities that are developmentally appropriate.

Key responsibilities:

• Integrate values and attitudes that support the mission of Catholic education and Cathedral School
• Support classroom teacher instruction and integration of 21st Century skills
• Exhibit a strong sense of personal accountability and high expectations for student academic achievement, as well as behavioral and social-emotional development
• Fulfill extra classroom or school-wide student supervisory duties as assigned (i.e. recess duty, lunch duty, carpool, etc.)
• Develop and maintain positive, professional collaboration, communication and relationships with students, colleagues, parish staff, and school families
• Work with small groups of students to support grade level instructional goals.

Minimum Requirements:

• Ideal candidates will hold an associate degree or bachelor’s degree in child development, Early Childhood, Elementary Education, or related field.
• 3+ years of work experience related to Education/Teaching or Childcare
• Well organized
• Proficient in basic technology skills preferably with a working knowledge of Google Suite for Education including Classroom, Docs, Sheets, Forms, Slides, and Gmail
• Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks
• Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training within 60 days of hire
