Substitute Middle School Religion Teacher

Hours per week: 15-18

Position Summary:

Cathedral School is seeking a temporary substitute for 6th and 7th grade religious studies, for a duration of approximately 5 months. This person would be an engaging, dynamic, and knowledgeable teacher with a passion for Catholic formation.

Key responsibilities:

• Integrate values and attitudes that support the mission of Catholic education and Cathedral School.
• Perform professional responsibilities of a teacher, including planning lessons and preparing instructional material.
• Develop and implement hands-on learning experiences and facilitate group discussion.  Assess student progression of understanding of content.
• Develop and maintain positive, professional collaboration, communication and relationships with students, colleagues, parish staff, and school families.
• Contribute to a positive Catholic school culture driven by continuous professional and spiritual growth, the striving for academic excellence, and a commitment to collegial collaboration.

Minimum Requirements:

• Ideal candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
• 2 years of work experience relating to Education/Teaching.
• Certification as a Master Catechist in Middle School Religion
• Current North Carolina Teaching License or equivalent out of state license preferred.
• Proficient in basic technology skills preferably with a working knowledge of Google Suite for Education including Classroom, Docs, Sheets, Forms, Slides, and Gmail
• A practicing Catholic in good standing who is passionate about living and sharing the Catholic faith.
• Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks.
• Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.
