Position Summary:

St. Egbert Catholic Church in Morehead City, NC is seeking a Financial Administrator. The Financial Administrator reports to the Pastor and is responsible for the accounting and financial management, business operations, payroll, vendor management, and human resource administration functions. This individual works in a professional manner reflective of the mission and vision of the Diocese and Parish.

Key responsibilities:

  • Timely Bank Reconciliation.
  • Offertory Tracking.
  • Develop, monitor and administer vendor contracts/agreements.
  • Supervise and monitor money handling procedures/cash counting.
  • Account receivables and payables.
  • Implement and oversee policies of operations.
  • Quarterly Financial Reports including Sales Tax reimbursement.
  • Annual Parishioner Financial Report.
  • Work collaboratively with the School Principal and Finance Council on a routine basis.
  • Oversee the Bishop’s Annual Appeal implementation and other stewardship events.
  • Meet with key personnel to review Budget YTD to Actual, monthly.
  • Oversee payroll of all employees.
  • Prepare Annual Budget and submit to Diocese.
  • Onboard new employees and ensuring continual satisfactory Safe Environment Training and Background Checks for employees and volunteers.
  • Oversee Columbarium contracts.
  • Maintains contact with Diocesan Business Finance Office, especially with the Parish Auditor.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or another related field.
  • 5 years minimum experience in a professional financial setting, with knowledge of budgets, accounting, facilities management, personal processes, and related laws and regulations.
  • Applicants must have the ability to analyze data, identify trends, develop sound policies and practices.
  • Employment is contingent upon applicants satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks.
  • Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.   
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient in or willingness to learn ParishSOFT; FACTS, Frontline.
  • Proficient in currently acceptable accounting principles and practices.
  • Working knowledge of Church and School policies/operations or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with people on all levels (staff, vendors, parishioners, etc.).
  • Ability to always maintain confidentiality.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
