Position Summary:

St. Patrick Catholic School is seeking an Athletic Director responsible for overseeing and managing the athletic programs for the middle school, ensuring the development, safety, and success of student athletes. This role involves coordinating teams, scheduling events, managing staff, and fostering a positive sports culture within the school. The Athletic Director serves as the primary liaison between students, coaches, parents and school administration.

Saint Patrick Catholic School in Fayetteville, N.C., is a PreK-8th grade school with over 85 continuous years of providing a solid Catholic school education to thousands of children of all backgrounds.  Saint Patrick maintains a valued tradition of academic excellence; providing a challenging, yet positive, learning environment to support the academic, technological, and social preparedness to each of their 250 students. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee athletic programs including soccer, basketball, cross country, baseball, volleyball, cheerleading.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with conference athletic regulations and policies and North Carolina sport safety standards per the North Carolina High School Athletic Association.
  • Supervise coaches for all sports teams, ensuring they adhere to program expectations and coaching standards.
  • Develop and manage the athletic department budget, including the allocation of funds for uniforms, equipment, and maintaining inventory.
  • Monitor the academic progress and conduct of student-athletes, ensuring eligibility requirements are met.
  • Communicate effectively with parents about game schedules, team rosters, and other relevant information.
  • Coordinate the logistics of home games, including setting up facilities, supervise athletic events to ensure smooth operations, safety, and a positive experience for students and spectators.
  • Ensure that all athletic activities follow health, safety, and legal guidelines (including concussion protocols, physical examinations, and injury prevention measures).

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: A high school diploma
  • Certification in First Aid/ CPR
  • Successfully complete Diocesan background and reference checks.
  • Complete Diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training prior to start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in coaching, teaching, or athletic administration
  • Knowledge of sports rules, safety protocols, and coaching techniques
