Associate Director of Middle & High School Youth Ministry

Position Summary:

St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking an Associate Director of Middle & High School Youth Ministry. The Associate Director is responsible for supporting the Director of Middle & High School Youth Ministry in preparation for and implementation of spiritual, education and social needs of Catholic youth in grades 6 – 12. This will include support of programming for service events, social events, catechesis and sacramental preparation.

Key responsibilities:

• Supports the planning and organizing of parish-based activities and retreats for youth.
• Promotes and facilitates involvement in deanery and diocesan youth activities.
• Supports fund-raising efforts to supplement allocated budget.
• Supports planning and organizing service opportunities with the parish and for outreach to the community at large.
• Supports middle and high school youth ministry sessions.
• Supports community-building and student leadership components of program.
• Assists in maintaining, implementing and supervising all parish policies regarding Child & Youth Protection.
• Empowers young people to be active in all aspects of parish life including liturgy, parish groups and events outside of youth ministry.

Minimum Requirements:

• College Degree is required
• 0 – 3 years of Youth Ministry experience in a Catholic parish preferred
• Active member of a Roman Catholic parish faith community.
• Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks 
• Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training prior to start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
