Position Overview

The Assistant Principal/Dean of Students is a key leadership and mentoring role responsible for ensuring a structured, supportive school environment while fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and engaging student experience.  This position oversees student behavior and accountability, manages student discipline, coordinates school-wide events, and enhances student life by developing programs that promote school culture, community involvement, and student engagement.  The ideal candidate is a proactive student-centered leader who can balance high expectations with strong relationship-building skills in order to create meaningful opportunities for student connection, engagement and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Discipline & Accountability

  • Oversee student conduct policies, ensuring fair and consistent enforcement of school rules.
  • Implement and refine restorative practices, behavior interventions, and student support systems.
  • Work closely with students, parents, and staff to address disciplinary concerns and develop action plans for student success.
  • Maintain accurate records of disciplinary actions and ensure compliance with school policies.

Student Experience

  • Develop and implement initiatives that strengthen school culture & climate and student engagement.
  • Oversee student life programming, including clubs, leadership opportunities, and school traditions.
  • Develop and implement programs that encourage student leadership, service, and engagement.
  • Create an environment that fosters belonging, inclusivity, and community spirit among students, staff, and families.
  • Serve as a key liaison between students, faculty, and administration to ensure a student-focused school climate.

School Climate & Culture

  • Foster a positive and inclusive school climate that supports academic success and personal growth.
  • Develop programs that reinforce school values, leadership, and character development.
  • Serve as a liaison between students, families, faculty, and administration to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Organize and participate in school-wide events that strengthen student engagement and community involvement.

Community Engagement

  • Support Director of Community Engagement with planning and execution of school-wide events such as assemblies, ceremonies, open houses, and celebrations.
  • Coordinate special programs that enhance student life, including service-learning projects, leadership retreats, and cultural initiatives.
  • Partner with faculty, staff, and parent organizations to promote enriching extracurricular opportunities.
  • Develop strong connections with families, parish, and community organizations to support student engagement efforts.

School Operations & Logistics

    • Overseeing the day-to-day operational functions of the school, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Managing facility use, transportation logistics, and scheduling to support academic and extracurricular activities.
    • Optimize resource allocations and enhance school functionality.
    • Ensure safety protocols, emergency preparedness, and compliance with school, diocese, county, and state policies.
  • *** In the absence of the Principal, AP/Dean of Students will function as the lead administrator on campus. ***

  • Manage budgets related to student life programming and operational needs.
  • Identify and implement best practices for streamlining school operations while enhancing student experiences.
  • Address parent concerns and provide resources to enhance their involvement in their child’s education.
    • Managing facility use, transportation logistics, and scheduling to support academic and extracurricular activities.
    • Optimize resource allocations and enhance school functionality.
    • Ensure safety protocols, emergency preparedness, and compliance with school, diocese, county, and state policies.
  • Ensure adherence to school, district, and state policies related to academic standards, student conduct, and faculty expectations.
  • Review report card grade books and comments for accuracy and timeliness, reporting inconsistencies to administration.
  • Develop and update policies related to student behavior, grading, and instructional best practices.
  • Communicate policy changes and expectations clearly to students, teachers, and parents.
  • Lead initiatives that promote equity, inclusion, and student success within the school community.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Administration, Leadership, School Counseling, or a related field.  Administrative Licensure preferred.
  • Proven experience in school operations, student affairs, event management, or related areas.
  • Strong understanding of student discipline practices and behavior management strategies.
  • Ability to hold students and teachers accountable while maintaining a supportive and growth-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for student engagement and communicating with parents.
  • Ability to build relationships with students, faculty, staff, parents, and community partners.
  • Strategic thinker who can balance logistical efficiency with student-centered initiatives.

Work Environment & Reporting Structure

  • Reports to the Principal.
  • Works closely with school counselor, academic leadership, faculty, student support services, and operations teams.

Evening and weekend availability will be required for events and special programs.

Position Start Date: July 1, 2025
