While visiting Medjegoria in 1991.
What is your favorite part of being a deacon?
Visiting nursing homes, serving the poor, preaching, Bible study and more.
What would you say to someone considering the permanent diaconate?
Discern your call with frequent prayer and quiet reflection and consultation with spiritual people. If you have any thoughts of personal achievement or influence and are not fully dedicated to obedient service to the Church and especially to those in need of spiritual assistance, remain active as a lay person.
What surprised you the most about the permanent diaconate?
Very little yet very much.
What is the most joyful revelation you’ve had about the diaconate since your ordination?
The Holy Spirit is so very active in all people but in a special way in Ordination.
What is your favorite scripture passage?
Psalm 46
Who is your favorite saint and why?
St. Theresa of Lisieux for her correct guidance in what she calls “the little way.”
Is there anything else you want people to know about you or the diaconate?
A person doesn’t choose the diaconate, God chooses him to the vocation of deacon, and he says yes.
